MARC Community Resources is an affiliated chapter of The Arc, the largest national volunteer-based organization devoted solely to advocacy on issues pertaining to individuals with I/DD (intellectual and developmental disabilities) and their families. MARC is also proud and grateful to be the recipients of a Middlesex United Way grant that supports their Adult Leisure Program and outreach and advocacy efforts.
Since 2009, Go Hartford! Mayor Mike’s Foundation For Kids has been paying tribute to the late mayor of the Insurance City, Mike Peters, by continuing his commitment to youth programs in the city, particularly for disadvantaged residents of urban neighborhoods where municipal money programs have been steadily drying up. Their goal is to have as many baseball, basketball, and soccer leagues in the city as are necessary to meet the needs of Hartford’s children. Through organized baseball, basketball, and soccer programs, they reach more than 1,000 children in the city each year and teach them to become involved in the community.
The Hartford Rib Off Scholarship Fund. A $2,500 scholarship (non-renewable) will be awarded annually to a graduating high school student who has shown commitment to their community through volunteer service. The beneficiary of this scholarship will be a high school student from Hartford in need of supplemental support for expenses while at college. The Hartford Rib Off knows that while expenses for classes, books, and room and board can be covered by academic scholarships, expenses related to living while at college are not. This scholarship will help to alleviate the burden of these expenses so that the student can concentrate on learning.
The Hartford Rib Off, Inc. is a Connecticut non-profit corporation and is exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN 82-1571658.
